We Remain Steadfast in our Commitment to Climate Action

On the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, it’s crucial we continue to change the trajectory of the COVID-19 pandemic while also working together to reduce the risks of future shocks to our shared global system from issues such as climate change. At Mars, we remain 100% committed to accelerating climate action.

“Our immediate priority is to ensure the safety of our Associates and limit the spread of COVID-19 in the communities we rely upon. We also remain 100% committed to doing business in a way that positively impacts people and our planet. We urge governments to ensure their plans to rebuild our economies prioritize the health of humans by keeping the health of the environment a core consideration,” said Barry Parkin, the Chief Procurement and Sustainability Officer at Mars.

Our Sustainable in a Generation Plan demonstrates the goals and steps we are taking to accelerate climate action.

We are committed to:

  • Cutting our greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Switching to 100% renewable energy resources.
  • Rebuilding coral reefs.
  • Taking action to halt deforestation.
  • Investing $1 billion in building a more sustainable future for people and the planet.
  • Doing all we can to stay below the 1.5 degree Celsius temperature limit.

We’re recommitting ourselves to working with our partners to tackle the climate crisis.  And we invite others to join us.

“The response to coronavirus has demonstrated that we do have the capacity to act urgently and radically to address the world’s biggest societal threats. It’s crucial that we continue to change the trajectory of this pandemic while also working together to reduce the risks of future shocks to our shared global system from issues such as climate change,” Parkin said.
