Mars celebrates World Food Safety Day

At Mars, food safety is a top priority. As a leading global food manufacturer, we hold ourselves accountable for ensuring the food we produce is safe and of the highest quality, benefiting people, pets and the planet.

Everyone deserves access to safe food, which is why we are proud to join the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) in recognizing World Food Safety Day on June 7th. This event aims to raise awareness and drive action to prevent, detect and manage foodborne risks, emphasizing the importance of food security, human health, economic prosperity, agricultural productivity, market access and sustainable development.

Quality is one of our Five Principles at Mars, guiding everything we do. Our dedication to quality ensures that we deliver the best products to the people and pets we serve, rooted in science-based decisions on food safety.

Mars is committed to ongoing collaboration with the FAO and other global partners to analyze and discuss emerging food safety issues, explore new methods and technologies, and identify trends in research and development that impact food safety.

Dr. Abigail Stevenson, Mars Chief Science Officer, stated, "At Mars, we believe everyone has the right to safe food, and collaboration is crucial in addressing food safety challenges. World Food Safety Day highlights our shared goals of strengthening food safety to enhance food security through capacity building, knowledge sharing, and the development of innovative, science-based approaches."
