Making healthy eating convenient and delicious

We believe delicious, nutritious food is fundamental to human wellbeing and we use our portfolio to deliver exciting food experiences to people across the world. We also want to make cooking more convenient so it’s easier for consumers to make healthy eating part of their daily lives.

At the start of 2021 we set out purpose commitments, with a new ambition of delivering 5.5 billion healthy meals a year by 2025. Through this, we aim to deliver four billion servings of vegetables, a 30% increase in fiber and an additional 5% sodium reduction across our portfolio.

We are making strong progress towards our commitments and have already delivered:

  • 9 billion healthy meals to dinner tables around the world
  • 1.7 billion servings of vegetables
  • 32% increase in fiber servings
  • 3.2% reduction of sodium in our portfolio

Our progress has been driven by a combination of reformulation efforts, optimization of the portfolio and implementing product innovation that meets the Mars Food Nutrition Criteria (MFNC), which includes stretching targets for calories, added sugar, salt and fat content.

We adopt widely agreed upon nutrition recommendations issued by the World Health Organization and other leading public health authorities. We are also continuing to address dietary issues in the markets we operate in, such as lack of fiber and micronutrients, with a strong focus on vegetables and whole grains and the important role of gut health.
